Along the North Carolina and Virginia border lies a piece of Heaven that contains over 850 miles of shorelines and covers more than 50,000 acres. Kerr / Buggs Island Lake is a reservoir that borders both states and offers great fishing and assorted recreational activities on the water. All of this awaits you just above Henderson, off Interstate 85.

There are five access points and hundreds of campsites so that you can pop up the tent or bring the RV. Boat ramps and two private marinas are available for boaters.

On the water, the possibilities are endless. Fishing is very popular, whether you’re an avid or beginner fisherman, as folks drop a line in hopes of reeling in a large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish or striped bass. But if you don't hook up, that's OK too - as everyone knows a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Boating is also a huge draw whether you are pulling the kids on the tube, wakeboarding, skiing or just enjoying a ride along the lake. Put the jet skis in the water to check out the scenery and explore one of the largest reservoirs in the southern United States.

The Carolina Sailing Club hosts monthly regattas from April until October and offers camps and lessons in an effort to raise awareness in the sport of sailing.

Canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding are also enjoyable activities you can embark on at Kerr Lake. Use your muscles and get a workout on the water!

For those who desire to stay dry on land, bring your hiking shoes and explore Kerr Lake via the elaborate trail system. Get up close to nature and learn more about your surroundings. Don't forget the binoculars!

So don't think you have to head to the coast to soak up sun and enjoy the water, Kerr Lake is a short drive from Raleigh. So grab the swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen and your friends and family to enjoy a few hours or the weekend at the lake.

Clarksville is located right on Kerr Lake with over 800 miles of shoreline. Virginia's Best Kept Secret! It's small town charm and low taxes bring many newcomers seeking the peacefulness and tranquility that only a small town can offer. Fishing, boating and watersports abound. Major East Coast population centers are only a few short hours away and easily accessible.
