History

Tobacco played a significant role in the early history of Creedmoor. Tobacco was the cash crop of the day for most farmers, although cotton was prevalent as well. Once the railroad track came through the town, linking Creedmoor to Henderson and Durham, the town began growing rapidly.



Fun Facts

There are four buildings in Creedmoor on the National Register of Historic Places.

Creedmoor, at one time, was the world’s largest mule trading center, earning the nickname “Mule Town.”

Creedmoor Music Festival takes place in September.
