Greenways are also very popular for a healthy lifestyle and focuses on the rich history and surroundings of this town, just 55 miles south of Raleigh. The Neuse River invites outdoor fanatics to hike, camp, and paddle along the trails.
If dining is more to your liking, Goldsboro has everything from fast-food to cafe dining. Village Steakhouse and Pub runs the gamut from appetizers to grilled specialties in a simple setting. Great Harvest Bread, well-known for its delicious varieties of bread, serves sandwiches and more made to order. If you are downtown, the menu at Ed's Southern Food and Spirits offers made-from-scratch meals that feature vegetables, seafood and meats from area farmers and fishermen.

The Wayne County Museum offers insight to this community that blossomed from its early start of railroad transport to an agriculture town and strongly supports its military families. Wayne County has a proud Southern history and Goldsboro helps to continue that tradition today.
Goldsboro was founded in 1787 as Goldsborough's Junction. It was named after an engineer with the local railroad company. During the Civil War, the junction was used by Confederate troops for transporting their supplies. The town changed the spelling to Goldsboro in 1869.
Pig in the Park celebrates barbecue with arts and crafts, live music and a cook-off in April.
