Welcome to Burlington, North Carolina

Burlington is centered in the heart of North Carolina and has a population of more than 50,000. Living in Burlington means that you are just a few hours drive away from the NC mountains and a few hours drive away from the beautiful NC coast.

Traced back to the 1850’s Burlington was originally known as the “company shops” and was the area selected by the NC railroad to be the site of its repair facilities. Once the railroad repair facilities moved to Spencer NC, the residents decided to rename the town to Burlington.

Due to the convenient location of Burlington, many manufacturing and textile plants sprung up and this manufacturing heritage still exists today providing jobs for many of the Burlington residents.

Today, Burlington is a rapidly growing city that offers many amenities including a state-of-the-art recreating facility and a growing downtown.
