As you consider moving to Moore County North Carolina, you might be surprised as to what you  might find in the area.  Moore County is home to 3 major small towns, Southern Pines, Pinehurst and Aberdeen.  There are other even smaller towns surrounding these 3, but the most populated areas are these 3 cities.  Moore County is home to some of the nations best golf, and the area hosts many US Golf Championships.  When looking to move to the area, you might consider Pinehurst as your number one choice.  Pinehurst has a very quaint feeling, and the homes in Pinehurst range from older more historic homes to newly built homes.  The real estate trends in Pinehurst lately, mirror much of real estate across the country.

Why Pinehurst?

Of all the places to live in Moore County, many people choose Pinehurst because it has a very quaint feel, and although not really big, hosts many tourists throughout the year for golf and other activities. The area called “The Village” is a number of homes that are within walking distance to the center of the village.  Outside of the popularity of golfing, there are many shops, eateries and the famed Pinehurst Hotel, which boasts many activities throughout the year.

Housing Trends

The current housing trends in Pinehurst mirror that of most of the country.  Houses have been selling very quickly and are usually selling for more than their asking price.  The median listing price is $350,000 with currently 145 houses on the market.  The median sale price is $347,000. Housing prices have decreased since June of 2021, which shows that the housing market in this area may be levelling off.  Median days on the market is 53 which is slightly higher than previous months and slightly down from last year.

Amenities

Outside of the obvious tourist attractions of the Pinehurst Resort, golf courses and the shopping and eating, Pinehurst boasts many amenities.  There are 10 grocery stores in the area, but just some chain restaurants.  You will find more individually owned businesses in this area with many unique treasures to buy, and great places to eat.

There are 3 schools in the Pinehurst area, and they are rated good or higher.  A brand new elementary school just opened this year, and houses all the elementary school children in Pinehurst.  West Pine Middle and Pinecrest High School are also rated highly.

Pinehurst is definitely one place to consider when considering a move to Moore County. Although it does receive a lot of tourists yearly, you will continue to feel that quaint small town feeling.
