This review is 100 % honest, and will be quite lengthy. TLDR: Chris is amazing and would recommend him to anyone.
My fiance' and I are first time homebuyers. We had no idea what we were doing, or where to go. I chose a house on zillow and Chris was the first one to contact us about the home we wanted to view. Anyway, since we were first time homebuyers, we had a lot of questions related to the process. Chris was able to answer every question he could, and if he didn't know they answer would direct us in the right direction to find out. He gave us recommendations on a lender, inspectors.. etc... all what I believe real estate agents normally do. What makes Chirs stand out to me, is that our home buying process was no more than a complicated mess. The sellers were... not the best.. They pushed closing back on us for 2 1/2 months for starters, and Chirs talked to our lender and made sure that we were not charged a fee for having to push closing back. Closing was pushed back probably about 5 times or maybe more.. that would be a lot of money to pay in extended fees. He also made sure that we were able to close no matter what before our lease was up. Sadly, by the time the sellers decided to move out, that gave us 3 days to move. This wouldn't have been too bad except, the sellers decided to leave the house a total mess. I mean, it was awful. They practically trashed the house.. They also had a leak on the water tank underneath of the house, and although the leak was there for a few weeks, they decided to not bother because it would soon be our problem. Chris immediately contacted the sellers agent and had them come out and fix the leak that same day. At this point, closing was finished and his job as our agent was over. BUT, Chris still decided to come over and check on us, and actually helped us clean the house. He also paid for us to have professional steam cleaning.. He felt so bad that the sellers left the house in such a manner, I am so grateful for him helping us. He was not just an agent trying to sell us a home and get a paycheck, he legit cared about our wellbeing and wanted to help all he could. This process was anything but smooth, but Chris made it better by helping the way that he did.
I would recommend Chris to anyone, and if I ever decide to buy another home and he is still in the business, he would be the first person I want to call. He was so much more than just an agent. He was a genuine caring person and I don't think I can thank him enough for his kindness.
Nothing but positive things to say about working with Chris VanDeWalker. We were lucky enough to get randomly paired with Chris for an initial house viewing, and later chose him to represent us in a somewhat unconventional home purchase. As first time home buyers, we were learning on the go. Chris was not only knowledgeable and competent, but very honest with us. He helped us to make informed decisions every step of the process.
We highly recommend working with him! He is willing to get on his hands and knees to inspect a crawl space with you, and you will appreciate his connections around the Clayton area as you move forward.
Working with Chris as been such a great experience for my family. He worked hard to get us the deal that we wanted. Chris, from the very beginning was very helpful and patient, answering all of our questions. Being a first time home buyer, Chris was able to walk us through everything step-by-step. His knowledge of construction and sound advice was a great befit as well. We were very fortunate to have found Chris as our Agent. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sale a home.
